What's At Stake
The Senate is currently considering two huge anti-democracy bills: the SAVE Act and SAVE America Act. Trump and some Congressional Republicans are claiming these bills would strengthen the security of our elections, when in reality, they are massive voter suppression efforts.
The SAVE Act and SAVE America Act, among other things, require “documentary proof of citizenship” when registering to vote, like a passport or birth certificate. Tens of millions of Americans lack access to those documents, and for many, their legal name does not match their birth certificate for reasons as common as a name change after marriage. In the end, this would block millions of U.S. citizens — possibly tens of millions — from voting.
Environmental rights are voting rights. Limiting people’s access to the ballot limits their ability to vote in alignment with their values.
We won’t tolerate this kind of blatant voter suppression. Help us fight back against these bills by sending a letter to your senators today and telling them to oppose this disastrous legislation.
