The United States Supreme Court recently ruled that more than half of the 118 million acres of wetlands in the U.S. are no longer protected by the Clean Water Act, putting precious habitats and water resources at risk. Wetlands are critical to improving freshwater quality, preventing floods, protecting shorelines from erosion, providing habitats for fish and wildlife, and driving economic growth through many recreational opportunities. This decision leaves tens of millions of acres of wetlands open to pollution and destruction by reckless developers and other dirty industries.
While in office, then-President Trump and Senators like Mitch McConnell stacked the courts with extreme judges backed by corporate polluters. In a time of ever-growing environmental and climate crises, we must bring balance and fairness to our federal courts and appoint judges who will uphold and respect bedrock environmental laws like the Clean Water Act that protect our public health and the planet.
To do that, we need your help.
Tell your Senators to fill judicial vacancies with President Biden’s nominees who will protect our environment. Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your Senator’s office.
