Earthjustice Action Celebrates Launch of House Environmental Justice Caucus

WASHINGTON, DC—Today U.S. Representatives Rashida Tlaib (MI-02), Summer Lee (PA-12), and Adelita Grijalva (AZ-07) announced the formation of the House of Representatives Environmental Justice Caucus. The three members are long-time environmental justice champions, with deep histories working alongside communities that face the disproportionate impacts of environmental injustices and climate change. The caucus will build on the legacies of the late Reps. Raúl Grijalva and Donald McEachin, who first introduced the landmark Environmental Justice for All Act in 2020.

After the announcement, Earthjustice Action Vice President of Policy and Legislation Raúl García issued the following statement:

“From the first day of his administration, President Trump has put the interests of polluters over the public interest. While polluter profits rise, our communities pay the price with worsening air quality, contaminated water, and higher rates of chronic illnesses and cancer clusters. We thank Reps. Tlaib, Lee, and Grijalva for rejecting this unacceptable status quo and creating a concerted effort to address and remedy environmental injustice in Congress. We look forward to working alongside them on community-led, community-driven solutions to fight the Trump Administration’s giveaways to polluters and instead, build the more equitable and just future we all deserve.”
