Earthjustice Action Statement on Trump Administration’s Latest Offshore Wind Attacks

WASHINGTON, DC—This week, the Trump Administration paid TotalEnergies approximately $1 billion to forfeit previously-issued offshore leases for wind farms off the coasts of North Carolina and New York. After the deal’s announcement, Earthjustice Action Vice President of Policy and Legislation Raúl García issued the following statement: 

“This is just the latest example of Trump’s aggressive war on clean energy. Despite surging power demand and high energy costs, Trump is willing to give almost a billion dollars of taxpayer funds to a private company and kill wind projects that would have powered over a million homes with low-cost clean energy. This administration cannot be trusted to permit the projects we need to meet the crises of this moment.”
