WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Senate Energy and Natural Resources Republicans released their text of the budget reconciliation bill. The bill includes many of the same giveaways to polluting industries as the House version, opening up millions of acres of public lands to oil, gas, coal, mining, and logging operations. Additionally, the bill includes a sweeping provision to sell off public lands to private interests. In response, Earthjustice Action Vice President of Policy and Legislation Raúl García:

“This bill advances a combination of wildly unpopular provisions that plunder majestic public lands and waters for wealthy polluter profits. It fails to see the vital role our public lands and waters play in providing habitats for threatened and endangered species, protecting water resources, and anchoring vibrant outdoor economies. Despite public outcry from communities across the country, President Trump and Republicans are sacrificing these cherished spaces to line the pockets of polluters and billionaires. Our iconic mountains, oceans, forests, and wildlife are all at stake. We hope that every Republican is carefully reading this bill tonight because voters will remember next November.” Â
