Earthjustice Action Statement on Republican’s House Farm Bill

WASHINGTON, DC—This month, House Republicans released text of their version of the Farm Bill. After introduction, Earthjustice Action Vice President of Policy and Legislation Raúl García issued the following statement:

“This hyper-partisan Republican proposal prioritizes industry interests over the real needs of farmers, communities, and our health. The bill would insulate pesticide manufacturers from accountability when they poison our families, weaken protections for endangered species and forests, and defund proven conservation solutions that lower greenhouse gas emissions. The Farm Bill is supposed to be bipartisan legislation that uplifts farmers and responsibly manages our natural resources, including our food supply. Instead, this bill is an unserious effort that further polarizes the conversation. We urge House Democrats to reject it and use their leverage to negotiate a Farm Bill that protects our families, health, and our environment.”
