Earthjustice Action Statement on Environmental Appropriations Bills

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a package of funding bills to fund the Interior Department, Environmental Protection Agency, Energy Department, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Following the vote, Earthjustice Action Vice President of Policy and Legislation Raúl García issued the following statement:

“Without the work of Ranking Members DeLauro and Murray, this package would have included dozens of anti-environmental riders and the Trump Administration would have received broad latitude to ignore congressional funding intentions and continue its illegal rescissions. However, it still falls short of appropriate funding levels for critical agencies that are supposed to protect our health and promote clean energy projects to lower energy costs. We appreciate their leadership and will continue fighting to fully fund the agencies charged with protecting our environment and public health.”
