Earthjustice Action Calls on Senators to Confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court
WASHINGTON, DC—Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee completed confirmation hearings on the nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court. If confirmed, Judge Jackson will be the first Black woman to serve on the court. Following the conclusion of hearings, Earthjustice Action Executive Director Marjorie Mulhall issued the following statement:
“After four days of testimony, Judge Jackson’s experience, intellect, and poise demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is more than qualified to become the next U.S. Supreme Court Justice. Despite efforts by some senators to grossly misrepresent her record and create distractions, her stellar qualifications shone through.
“Our environmental laws are only as strong as the judges who uphold them, and who sits on the bench matters enormously for the health of our communities and the future of our planet. Judge Jackson is exactly the type of Supreme Court justice we need, and we urge all senators to support her nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court.”
