Tell Congress: Protect our families from toxic chemicals

What's At Stake

Our families deserve clean air, safe water, and everyday products free from toxic chemicals. Unfortunately, Congress is trying to undo crucial protections against these dangerous substances to the benefit of the chemical lobby.

A bill moving through Capitol Hill would gut our main chemical safety law: the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Write to your members of Congress today and tell them to oppose this bill because our children deserve to have air, food, and water free of toxic chemicals.

Toxic chemicals are already everywhere: in the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and even inside our homes and bodies. Exposure to common chemicals has been linked to rising rates of cancer, infertility, and serious developmental harms to children. Weakening TSCA would only make this crisis worse.

If Congressional Republicans bow to chemical lobbyists, it will be even easier for corporations to get new forever chemicals into our bodies and harder to get legacy toxic chemicals, like asbestos, off the market. Under TSCA, the Environmental Protection Agency can ban toxic chemicals and must determine that chemicals are safe before they can be used in products like toys, furniture, clothing, cleaning supplies, and building materials. This bill would remove those guardrails so corporations can boost their bottom line with little regard for public health — and even less oversight and accountability.

We cannot let Congress rewrite the rules at the expense of our communities. Tell your elected officials to oppose this legislation.
