Take Action

Tell Your Representatives to Keep Lead Pipes Away from Our Water

In 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency finalized the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) to protect our communities from dangerous lead pollution. This rule requires drinking water utilities across the country to identify and replace lead pipes within 10 years, as well as conduct more rigorous testing of drinking water. It also lowers the threshold of lead levels where officials must take action, meaning they’ll start protecting families sooner. Finally, the LCRI ensures communities are better informed about the risks of lead in drinking water and the status of lead pipe replacements.

But now, Republicans are trying to roll back this crucial rule as part of their agenda to eliminate public protections for public health. H.J. Res. 44 would wipe out the LCRI and put millions of people, especially children, at risk.

Tell your representatives to protect families and children by keeping the LCRI intact. Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your representative’s office. Click here to dial automatically on mobile.
