Earthjustice Action Urges Senators to Rigorously Scrutinize Trump’s Judicial Nominees
WASHINGTON, DC—Today at 10:15AM, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold its first hearing on President Donald Trump’s first slate of judicial nominees. In anticipation of the hearing, Earthjustice Action Legislative Director of the Access to Justice Program Coby Dolan issued the following statement:
“We need principled judges who will uphold the law and serve as a bulwark against this administration’s brazen attacks on the rule of law and our environment. It is the Senate’s constitutional obligation to rigorously scrutinize these prospective nominees, asking tough questions to determine whether they are impartial, believe in the government’s ability to tackle our most pressing issues, and understand the difference between facts and politics. We need rigorous oversight, not rubber stamps.”
Earthjustice Action recently published a blog articulating the types of questions Senators should ask nominees to better determine their suitability for the federal bench.
